Job Overview
Sequel is hiring its first Director, Talent & Organizational Development to lead the design and execution of a holistic people development strategy. This role will be instrumental in shaping a scalable, future-forward approach to leadership development, performance management, employee growth, and internal communications. As a key architect of Sequel’s evolving culture, this leader will also champion inclusive practices and support the formation of employee resource groups (ERGs). The ideal candidate brings a bold vision, strategic mindset, and builder orientation to create programs that inspire excellence and enable all employees to thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership Development: Design and implement a company-wide leadership development strategy that aligns with Sequel’s values, performance culture, and long-term growth objectives.
- Employee Development: Build a comprehensive development framework that includes manager capability building, role-specific learning, and team-based growth experiences.
- Performance Management: Lead the evolution of Sequel’s performance management strategy, including continuous feedback, and annual reviews.
- Organizational Development: Partner with the Head of People & Culture to define a talent philosophy and roadmap that supports succession planning, organizational effectiveness, and change enablement.
- Corporate Communications: Own internal communications strategy and execution to ensure clarity, transparency, and alignment across the organization.
- Inclusion & Belonging: Enable the creation and sustainability of employee resource groups (ERGs) and ensure development programs reflect inclusive practices.
- Talent Insights: Provide talent and readiness metrics to senior leaders, using data to assess program effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with department leaders to understand capability needs and co-create practical, scalable solutions.
- Signature Programs: Design and deliver internal development experiences (e.g., new manager bootcamps, leadership labs, team offsite frameworks).
- Tools & Systems: Build toolkits and self-service learning resources; assess and implement systems that support learning and performance.
- Talent Assessments: Lead or support 360 feedback, talent reviews, and capability assessments to inform workforce planning.
- Innovation & Best Practices: Stay current on trends in talent development, communications, and organizational design, applying what fits Sequel’s stage and structure.
Minimum Qualifications
10+ years of progressive experience in talent management, organizational development, or learning & development, ideally in high-growth/startup environments or at a large organization as part of a COE.
Preferred Skills & Attributes
- Deep expertise in leadership development, performance management, and adult learning.
- Strategic thinker with a track record of building programs from the ground up.
- Strong facilitation, coaching, and communication skills.
- Experience with internal communications and change management.
- Familiarity with People Analytics to inform decisions and measure impact.
- Passion for shaping culture and building inclusive, mission-driven organizations.
- Ability to work regularly in Sequel’s Marlborough, MA office as required.
