Job Overview
Senior Director, Pharmacy Operations will play a critical role in establishing and nurturing relationships with national retail accounts, including pharmacy chains such as CVS, Walgreens and other key stakeholders in the national retail pharmacy and specialty pharmacy sector. Reporting to the Senior Director, Trade, this individual will be responsible for driving product adoption and market penetration by securing retail agreements and optimizing product placement at the national pharmacy chains and specialty pharmacies. Senior Director, Pharmacy Operations will work work to resolve pharmacy stocking issues at the national chains and specialty pharmacies and will work closely with Sales & Marketing on national retail pharmacy programs to ensure product awareness and availability. Additionally, Senior Director will work with the Health Solutions Team with specialty and mail order pharmacy initiatives.

Job Responsibilities and Essential Duties
Account Management:
  • Develop and execute comprehensive account plans to drive product adoption and manage product availability with national chains and specialty pharmacies.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers and influencers with national pharmacy accounts and specialty pharmacies, including pharmacy buyers and category managers.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Sales, Market Access and Health Solutions, to develop and implement strategies tailored to meet the unique needs of national pharmacy chains and specialty partners.
  • Negotiate favorable terms and conditions for retail agreements where applicable, ensuring alignment with company objectives and profitability targets.

Market Analysis and Strategy:
  • Conduct market analysis and competitive assessments to identify opportunities for product placement and differentiation with national chains.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, market dynamics, and regulatory developments impacting the retail pharmacy landscape.
  • Develop strategic initiatives and promotional campaigns to drive product awareness and demand generation within national retail chain accounts.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Serve as the primary liaison between national chain accounts and internal stakeholders, facilitating communication and alignment on key initiatives and business objectives.
  • Collaborate with Sales Operations and Customer Service teams to ensure seamless execution of national retail chain programs and initiatives.
  • Provide regular updates and insights to Sr. Director, Trade and other internal stakeholders on market trends, competitive activities, and opportunities for growth within national retail and specialty accounts.


Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; MBA strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in account management, sales or business development roles within the medical device or pharmaceutical industry, with a focus on trade and retail accounts.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Proven track record of successfully managing accounts and programs within the retail pharmacy sector, preferably with experience working with national pharmacy chains and specialty pharmacies and mail order
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to influence decision-making at the executive level.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex concepts and value propositions to diverse audiences.
  • Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset and a passion for driving commercial success in a dynamic and competitive market environment.
